One of the living legends of jazz, he began on stage with Clifford Brown and John Coltrane, shared a desk with Quincy Jones in Dizzy Gillespie's big band and his first compositions were recorded by Miles Davis. Even in the 50's she went around the world with Art Blakey and wrote songs for Jazz Messengers that have become standards today. After five decades of successful musical career, in 2004 she got in front of the cameras directed by Steven Spielberg to shoot some scenes with Tom Hanks for the film the terminal. During her 2019 European tour she recorded this magnificent concert, in a quartet, at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.
